![]() I want to get regular exercise out of using the bike. Torque sensing certainly feels better than cadence but is it worth $2-400 more? When I tried it out not really. Every adjustment is going to be another trip to the bike shop which is a massive hassle to me as I don't own a car. I find properly adjusting my regular bike's rim brakes on my own nearly impossible, and disc brakes are apparently even harder to adjust. Main reason I want hydraulic is significantly lower maintenance than mechanical. I have plenty of bikes, including a Rad Power City, with mechanical disk brakes and have zero issues with them. Overall, extremely satisfied with my Rad and would buy another in a heartbeat. The rep was excellent and extremely responsive (thanks Cody!). I contacted Rad about buying a replacement because nobody local had something with the right thread count, and they up and shipped me a replacement rear axle assembly kit (nuts/bolts/derailleur guard) for free. I had an issue where I didn't get one of the rear axle bolts tight enough after doing some maintenance and it came off mid-ride, rolling god-knows-where. Some things creak a little, the crank shaft is already showing signs it may not live for terribly much longer, and the disc brake pads gave out long before most others would have (again, budget parts), but otherwise it's been treating me well. I think it's important to put the reminder here that you are buying a $1500 ebike, and regardless of which one you buy, it's worth remembering that this is a you-get-what-you-pay-for situation. I've owned a used 2018 Rad City for about 3 months now (1500mi from first owner, I've added >350mi) and use it as my daily driver for my 5 mile commute to work.
